At Holy Redeemer
The Theology of the Body for Teens program held at Holy Redeemer in Pickering was a success. There were approximately 20 Teens who met over a twelve week period.  These teens came from many backgrounds and Parishes, so many did not know each other.

There were six young adult leaders who also went through the course.  Their witness and enthusiasm helped create a pleasant experience by all.  They are also interested in sharing what they learned.  So if your Parish is interested in hosting the Theology of the Body for Teens please contact us for more information  email: stbreg@gmail.com

The course material from ToB for Teens, was easily adapted to fit our needs.  The ToB for Teens website offers resources to help facilitate this program.  For example the “Guide to the Leader’s Guide will help you get the most out of this curriculum based on the time you have available. Coupled with your knowledge of the needs of your group, this guide will walk you through each chapter of the Leader’s Guide step-by-step, helping you prepare quickly but well to guide your teens through this program. The Leader’s Guide is user-friendly, offering many tips for the inexperienced teacher or youth leader; the Guide to the Leader’s Guide simply highlights, according to your group’s specific time constraints, the best way for you to use the program. This guide presents options for sessions of 120, ninety, seventy-five, and sixty minutes”.

Another resource was The “Theology of the Body for Teens DVD set which provides the opportunity to have the authors of the curriculum, Brian Butler and Jason and Crysalina Evert, teach the heart of each lesson to your teens. The recommended way to use the DVD set is to play the corresponding DVD chapter segment when you come to the “Teach” segment of each chapter session. There are other fun and informative segments on the DVDs, such as man-on-the-street interviews and summary trivia questions, so be sure to review them ahead of time.”  The teens really enjoyed the Trivia game at the conclusion of each talk, often calling out the answers before the time limit.

We recommend hosting a Parent Information evening and view the Parent Overview on the DVD.

We can not emphasize enough that this curriculum can easily be used in a Classroom setting, as it was developed with that in mind. There are plenty of resources at the ToB for Teens website so even if you have not studied the Theology of the Body there is enough guidance to make it easy to teach.  Several Private Catholic High Schools in the Toronto Archdiocese have already used this program.

The Theology of the Body for Teens program is divided into 12 unique segments that reflect the pedagogical approach of John Paul II’s revolutionary teaching. The program has been designed specifically as a catechetical program to fit perfectly into Catholic schools, youth ministry, CCD, and homeschooling settings. Theology of the Body for Teens has been granted the Imprimatur by Justin Cardinal Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia.
